Volunteer Opportunities
Puppy Raiser

Our puppies are placed into volunteer homes at 8 weeks of
age.  The puppy raiser then attends training class once per
week to learn training techniques and commands.  The puppy
raiser also gets to take their dog in training everywhere,
including their place of employment!  After placement, the
puppy raiser is also required to participate in field trips out in
public alongside Canine Co-Pilots trainers.  The dogs come
back to us between 15-21 months of age to prepare them for
placement with a person with a disability.

Breeder Caretaker

When dogs are selected to become breeders for the
program, they are placed into breeder caretaker
homes.  Canine Co-Pilots retains ownership of the
dogs, but the dog lives with the caretaker as his/her
pet.  Canine Co-Pilots will contact the breeder
caretaker prior to a scheduled breeding, and it is the
caretaker's responsibility to bring the dog to us.
Pregnant females return to us 2 weeks prior to
delivery and stay with Canine Co-Pilots staff for 5-6
weeks after delivery.  The breeder caretaker is
allowed to visit the mom and pups at this time.

Canine Co-Pilots frequently organizes and
participates in events to fund-raise and
promote awareness of our organization.
Volunteers can help man booths, walk in
parades, hand out information packets and
assist with general public relations.
